Tree of Life Hollow

Two Shoes Kitchen

Farm cooking, self-sufficiency, and the pleasures of eating close to the land.

About This Channel

It all began with a simple idea: bonding over something that lasts.

Tim and Sam started cooking together while dating as a means of bonding and saving money (Washington, D.C. is super expensive, okay?!). But it quickly turned into more, and would become a central piece of the home they were creating.

Samantha brought Middle Eastern and Asian cuisines to the figurative and literal table, being influenced by her life and travels abroad. Tim added rootedness to the menu with food from his deep-set Pennsylvania heritage and love for what’s actually good to eat.

Together, they explored countless recipes and cocktails in search of setting a table that would stir the senses and invite connection. Ultimately, this created Two Shoes Kitchen, a celebration of love and embodying a hospitality that is holistic and enlightening.

Ten years later, the Shoemakers are passionate about good food that feeds the mind, body, and soul. Food that tells a story and nurtures a vibrant life to go with it. Both readily admit that a big part of choosing travel destinations is picking out places to eat and sampling what the locals prefer.

This blog is their way of sharing recipes that work for everyday meals. With their daughter now added to the mix, much of what they write includes accommodations for toddlers (although she is an adventurous eater in her own right). These recipes aren’t for pursuit of perfection, but rather to make the most out the ordinary chaotic day and explore flavors.
